{the weekly cookie} snickerdoodle

I’ve always wanted to taste a snickerdoodle, Pinterest is full of them. I decided for a recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction, and replaced the cream of tartar (of course, nobody in Romanian supermarkets has heard of it…).

The ingredients list:

  • 220g butter
  • 250g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tsp baking powder (instead of 2 tsp cream of tartar and 1 tsp baking soda)
  • 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 400g flour
  • 100g sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon for rolling

The process:

  • Preheat the oven to low to medium heat
  • Cream together the butter and sugar
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract and incorporate
  • Combine flour, cinnamon and baking powder and incorporate into the wet ingredients
  • Form little balls of dough and roll in the cinnamon sugar prepared on a plate
  • Bake the balls of dough for 7-8 minutes and press into shape when hot, right out of the oven
  • Let cool and transfer to a plate

I definitely need to change my photo background now, there are sugar marks all over it. But who can complain, with the house smelling like cinnamon and Christmas and cookies?
